How to decorate a Wabi-Sabi home?
Natural and minimalist spaces without giving up warmth.
As we already mentioned in the previous post, Wabi-Sabi is a way of understanding life based on the search for balance. A hymn to the beauty of imperfection, accepting and loving things as they are to achieve inner peace. Because life is constant change and we need to enjoy every little moment. Philosophically it is easy to understand, not so easy to apply...😉
What is more difficult to imagine is how to translate this philosophy to home decoration.
Generally the Wabi-Sabi style is found in minimalist houses with wood as the protagonist. This is how you get spaceswarmandsimplewhere the small details are THE EVERYTHING. Wabi-Sabi seeks calm, which translates into spaces without overloading.
Walls painted in light colors and windows covered by light curtains that provide serenity. Floors covered with jute rugs that invite meditation to relax and feel calm. Definitely, simple and cozy homes that breathe naturalness through all their pores
PROTAGONISM OF WOOD
Wood is the key element in a Wabi-Sabi home. Not only because it provides warmth but because it represents “the beauty of imperfection.” The wood is perfectly imperfect, its rough grains, its irregular finishes and its totally asymmetrical shapes cause a feeling of serenity. Wood is a material thatit never gets old-fashioned, has a peculiar beauty that over the years acquires its own personality. Its versatility makes it fit perfectly into any room.Combined with furniture of other styles or even other tones it always works.
COMBINATION OF MATERIALS
The mix of cold and warm materials such as porcelain and jute; or materials of different textures such as rattan and wood are thematchesperfect for finding balance and achieving a timeless atmosphere.By combining different materials you will get a home with personality and its own soul where you can feel at ease.
NEUTRAL AND WARM COLORS
UNIQUE DECORATIVE ELEMENTS
The Wabi-Sabi style is the art of seeking the natural, of introducing details and authentic pieces while eliminating the unnecessary. It is inspired by nature and pieces that imitate it, such as rough clay vases in white or terracotta colors, with irregular finishes. Elements are sought that add a touch of freshness and provide personal character to the space, such as natural plants, which serve to attract good energy and free us from stress.Through decoration you can create warm and natural environments that invite tranquility.
